What I Wore

shirt/ H&M, pants/ H&M, boots/H&M, jewlery/ UO, H&M, Forever21

Yup, shitty pictures again...I know. Gotta work with me though! This is my best friend Maddy! Yes, I have two best friends with the same name, but spelled differently! You can't really see it here, but I decided to give the sheer trend a go. I was surprised my dad didn't stop me in my tracks of walking outside the door (sorry dad). I also just realized I am once again wearing an all H&M outfit. What is wrong with me? I neeeeed more clothes from different places.. or else I'm gonna be known as an H&M whore. Going off topic...(but not really because it still has to do with fashion)..I'm starting to look at colleges! Wooo! This is very exciting for me, since I've wanted to get out of my town since..well as long as I can remember. Suburbs just really aren't for me. I will be looking at FIT, Parsons New School, LIM, Drexel, Philadelphia U, and more! Hopefully I will be in NYC though. I am very excited and nervous all at the same time! I've been working extremely hard this year...even though I can probably work harder...to get good grades. It's junior year...which is the most stressful out of all the high school years. Most important year for colleges to look at, SAT prep and SAT's, etc...you all know how it works. So, while we're on the school topic...I need to go do homework! Tah tah!

Zara November '11

photos via: Zara

I mean, this is why I freaking LOVE Zara! They consistently keep impressing me with their lookbooks. I would have to say that this November '11 lookbook is my favorite so far. The prints, maxi skirts, lace, sequins, everything... I love it all! The best thing about Zara is their prices. They are fairly inexpensive (when compared to other designers), which is great for a fashaholic on a budget! God, I really am in love with everything!

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is a little preview of my outfit today for Thanksgiving! Instagram kept me busy on the drive up to dinner. I'm sure my dad was wondering why I was taking pictures of myself in the backseat...but oh well. Dinner was so good tonight! I am so full...and I'm pretty sure a food baby is growing inside of me right now. I am thankful for family, friends, life and....fashion. Tomorrow is Black Friday...not sure if I will participate or not. It gets sooo freaking crazy at the mall..so I might just stay home and do some online shopping. Although I am hearing about $5 deals at H&M...which is very exciting. I might just go for that! Then again....I want to sleep in at least once this break. Decisions decisions.....

Shopping...

I went to the mall today with my friend Maddie to try to put an outfit together for Thanksgiving. Of course I didn't have any money on me other than my debit card, which is used for gas money. Therefore, I couldn't get any of the awesome things I found. It was quite sad actually. I found a leather pencil skirt (which I've been looking at for a very long time), a very cute color blocked sweater, a metallic sweater, and a really cute slip dress. I neeeeeed clothes. I feel like I'm wearing the same thing every week. My dad really just doesn't get it. Kind of the downside of not having a mother around. Maybe they'll still be there on Friday when I go shopping for Black Friday. Doubtful... :/

Style Crush: Leandra Medine

photos via ManRepeller

Alright, if I am in love with one blog, it is the Man Repeller. Every time I visit the blog, I always get so inspired and also end up laughing my ass off. This is partly because the concept of the Man Repeller is incredibly true for all women who are interested in fashion. So, what is a man repeller you may ask? Lets look no further than to Leandra herself. (This is directly from www.manrepeller.com....I own nothing)

The Man Repeller's shtick, as she points out on her blog, hinges on isolating high-fashion trends that might actually keep men at arm's length. She provides a definition:

"Outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive way that will result in repelling members of the opposite sex. Such garments include but are not limited to harem pants, boyfriend jeans, overalls (see: human repelling), shoulder pads, full length jumpsuits, jewelry that resembles violent weaponry and clogs."

She cites an example conversation about staving men away through clothes:

Girl 1: What are you wearing to the party?

Girl 2: My sweet lime green drop crotch utility pants!

Girl 1: Oh, so we're man repelling tonight.

Story of my life... Actually, story of every fashaholic's life. I'll probably do a separate blog post discussing men's take on woman's fashion. But, this basically says it all. Not many men are fans of high waisted pants, jumpsuits, sequins, leather, etc. It seems like every time I wear my leather skirt or shorts, some guy has to make a sarcastic comment about them. I've gotten used to it, but I also think it is the reason why many women and girls are afraid to take fashion risks! I know this because it used to be my excuse for not dressing the way I liked. When I discovered the Man Repeller blog, I kind of fell in love and became obsessed with dressing in a way that most guys probably don't find attractive, or...they way I love to dress. I'm going to save this discussion for another blog post..so more on the original Man Repeller herself! Leandra Medine represents something of a fashion conundrum. Her cover-up aesthetic she promotes on her blog has curated some of the most alluring trends. She refers to her outfits as "sartorial contraceptives". Basically saying that her fashion choices "repels" men from her. Well, that's one way to save money on birth control!

Sparkling Sensations

This is kind of a continuation of the Liquid Metal post. It has been clear that sequins are so big for this year. Sequins are no longer just for night time! You can now show all of their might and glory during daytime hours! I don't know why this "trend" is just popping up now... Louis Vuitton, Dolce and Gabbana, Stella McCartney, and other designers have been showing sequined dresses for forever! One of my favorite ways to wear this trend is to pair a sequined skirt, dress, shirt, whatever... with something along the lines of tough and well...manly-like. Kind of Altuzarra-esque... Pairing things like parkas and military jackets with feminine things. It is seriously one of the best combinations in the world. Really, if you pair anything that contrasts, it looks awesome. In my first picture, Karen Blanchard from Where Did You Get That...paired her sequin skirt with a big sweater, and some tough ankle boots. It looks ah-maz-ing. But, you don't have to do that. You can just stay completely feminine with sequins...which also looks amazing. That green mid-length Dolce and Gabbana dress is killer. So what do we all, including myself, take from this?...basically..I am obsessed with shiny things.

Liquid Metallica

Metallics are HUGE for this fall and winter, and I love every single bit of it. I don't know why, but I always find myself attracted to shiny things... So, this is really sparking my ADD up. It tickles me everytime I see something.....well metallicy! I am particularly in l.o.v.e with those Alexander Wang loafers. I mean, who doesn't want a pair of silver high heeled loafers with tassels on them?! I am also in love with those silver Zara pants, which they don't have in my size anymore. Poop on a stick. I was really looking forward to wearing them, and having everyone stare at me like I was an alien from outer space. I'm pretty sure Topshop makes a similar pair, so I'll just have to get my hands on a pair from there. That rhymed..kind of. Lol. Alrightttt, well enough of that! Time for bed!

So, my dad really needs to clean his mirror.... I'm guessing that is why the quality of these pictures are so bad... But what else is new?! I actually do have a really good camera I could use, but I have nobody to take pictures of me. Oh well. So, it ended up being a really nice day weather wise. It got up to the 70's. So nice. My brother comes home for Thanksgiving next week! I am beyond excited to see him and his girlfriend Keighley! I miss them so much! I can't believe its already the middle of November. This year is going by so freaking fast. Soon enough it'll be Christmas! Yay! :)

Versace x H&M

So, for those who follow me on twitter, you probably saw a couple of tweets about how insanely jealous I was because of all of the people that were at the Versace for H&M fashion show. This is probably the best designer collaboration I've seen yet. The vibrant colors, studs, metallics, leather, prints, everything is just incredible!!! I am going to try my very best to convince my dad to let me go up to New York City to get my hands on something from this collection! Because God knows that the prices on eBay are going to be insane. Probably $1,000 a dress or something crazy like that. Anyway, I'm in love with everything from this collection. Donatella Versace is pure genius!
